Shopify development

Shopify app development

We build Shopify apps that do one job well. That can be a private tool for your own store or a public app for the Shopify App Store. You get clean source code, clear documentation and an app that follows Shopify's current platform rules.

  • Public apps and custom apps for one store
  • Embedded admin apps, extensions and Functions
  • Billing, webhooks and privacy compliance included

Apps built the way Shopify expects

Shopify moves fast, and apps that ignore its newer tools get harder to keep running. We build on the current platform: embedded admin apps with Polaris and App Bridge, theme app extensions for storefront changes, checkout and customer account UI extensions, and Shopify Functions for discount, delivery and payment logic.

We also look after the parts that are easy to forget. That means OAuth and session handling, webhook processing, the mandatory privacy webhooks, rate limits on the GraphQL APIs, and billing through the Shopify Billing API. If you plan to publish, we prepare the app for the App Store review.

What we build

Capabilities

Public and custom apps

Apps for the Shopify App Store, or private custom apps built for a single store or a single company.

Embedded admin apps

Admin screens built with Polaris and App Bridge that sit inside the Shopify admin and feel native to merchants.

Theme app extensions

App blocks and app embeds that add features to the storefront without editing theme code by hand.

Checkout and account extensions

Checkout UI extensions and customer account UI extensions for extra fields, messages, upsells and order tools. Some placements depend on your Shopify plan.

Shopify Functions

Custom logic that runs on Shopify for discounts, delivery options, payment options, cart changes and cart validation.

API integrations

Admin GraphQL API and Storefront API work, plus webhooks that keep Shopify in step with your other systems.

Headless and mobile apps

Custom storefronts and mobile shopping apps that read your catalogue through the Storefront API.

Billing and compliance

Subscriptions and one-time charges through the Shopify Billing API, and the privacy webhooks that Shopify requires.

Use cases

Problems these apps solve

A rule Shopify does not have

Your discount, minimum order or delivery rule is not in the admin. A Shopify Function can apply it at checkout without a workaround.

Manual work in the admin

Staff copy data between Shopify and a sheet every day. An embedded app can do the task in one screen or in the background.

Order data in another system

Orders, stock and customers need to reach your ERP, warehouse or CRM. Webhooks and the Admin API keep them in sync.

Extra checkout information

You need a gift note, a delivery instruction or a tax field at checkout. A checkout UI extension can collect it and save it with the order.

A feature for many merchants

You have a tool other stores would pay for. We build it as a public app with billing, onboarding and listing material.

A custom storefront or app

You want a store front end that is not a theme, or an iPhone and Android app. We build it on the Storefront API.

How we work

From first message to handover

  1. 1

    Requirements review

We read your brief, look at your store setup and agree what the app must do, which Shopify surfaces it uses and what is out of scope.

  2. 2

    Design and plan

We pick the right tools for the job, such as an extension, a Function or an admin screen, and share a short technical plan and screen outline.

  3. 3

    Build on a development store

We build and test on a Shopify development store with realistic data, and show you progress as features become usable.

  4. 4

    Testing and compliance

We test install, uninstall, permissions, billing and webhooks, and check the privacy webhooks and API scopes.

  5. 5

    Release or App Store review

For a custom app we install it on your store. For a public app we prepare the listing and fix the points Shopify's review raises.

FAQ

Questions about shopify apps

What is the difference between a custom app and a public app?

A custom app is made for one store or company. A public app is listed on the Shopify App Store for many merchants and goes through Shopify's review. We build both.

Can you extend an app we already have?

Yes. We can read your existing code, fix problems and add features. We will tell you what we find before we quote.

Do we own the code you write?

Yes. You own the code we write for you. We hand it over in a repository you control.

How much will it cost and how long will it take?

We quote after reviewing your requirements. Cost and time depend on the number of features, the Shopify surfaces involved and any outside systems.

Can you use Shopify Functions for our discount rule?

Often yes. Functions cover discounts, delivery, payment, cart changes and validation. We check your rule against what Functions allow before we start.

Do you handle the privacy webhooks and billing?

Yes. We build the required privacy webhooks and, for paid apps, billing through the Shopify Billing API.

Can you build a mobile app for our store?

Yes. We can build a custom app on the Storefront API. We also offer the Lyrakart Customer Mobile App if you want a ready product.
